A couple of retailing abilities are helpful: Being a TA involves a small amount of retailing.
Skills like merchandizing and product display are important. To get people interested, you need to display your product in the same way that it would be displayed in a retail store.
Photography: In a recent ecommerce consulting study it was discovered that 85% of the sales came from the picture. So having a good picture of the product is extremely important.
Get listed as a TA: Being a registered Trading Assistant will enable you to receive certain amenities. Like flyers and press kits. You will also be offered training courses. To become a registered TA with eBay you must have sold at least ten items in the past 90 days, have a feed back of 100 or higher have a positive feedback of 97% or higher.
People skills: Good interpersonal skills are a definite must for a successful career as an eBay TA. You need to be able to fulfill the needs and desires of a variety of people at one time.
Building Clients and Commissions
It may be wise to consider ecommerce consulting when starting out because building a client base will be the most important part of becoming successful. In the beginning most of the clients will come from five to ten mile vicinity.
In time, the effort that you put into the small vicinity will begin to “snowball.” Word of mouth combined with the efforts of honesty and soon you will have an active client base that leads to a lot of commissions.
